The TBDS Secondary English Programme employs Cambridge International English for its curriculum. The curriculum is based upon the Key, Preliminary and First qualifications and builds upon and extends English learning from the Cambridge Primary courses of Starters, Movers and Flyers. The Secondary courses, which are fully recognized by educational institutions worldwide, are graded upon the European CEFR Language bandwidth scale. Upon successfully completing the courses, students take an exam which is externally marked by Cambridge International English. Students who successfully pass the exam shall receive a certificate from Cambridge International which does not expire and provides the students with proof of their English language ability which again is recognized by all Western nations.

     Students taking the courses shall be subjected to a variety of formative and summative assessments to best determine their ability in successfully taking the formal exam to earn their certificate. Classwork differs for each course and during the school year, students are given graded exercises, quizzes, tests and two exams each term. All courses focus upon the 6 basic English skills of Reading, Writing, Grammar, Listening, Speaking and Vocabulary. The courses are conducted during two lessons a week over the two school semesters.

Key English Course

     The Key English Course seeks to give students a solid foundation of English skills at the basic level and provides students upon successful completion with an A2 on the CEFR bandwidth with an equivalent IELTS score of 3.0 to 3.5. Key course topics are to appeal to their burgeoning identities as teenagers. Students are exposed and gain greater familiarity to more complex language structures in choosing correct answers and in expressing themselves. Students are taught English grammar with a focus on form and it’s meaning and why grammar tenses are used. Features of the course include:

-          Variety of reading skills such as multiple choice, right, wrong or doesn’t say.

-          Interesting exercises to build vocabulary including a wealth of synonyms and antonyms.

-          Development of listening awareness to detect patterns of spoken English.

-          Spoken English is expanded into giving complex answers.

-          Writing a basic and coherent paragraph.

劍橋初級英語課程

　劍橋初級英語課程旨在為學生提供基礎水平的堅實英語基礎，並為成功完成學習的學生提供CEFR A2評級與雅思成績為3.0至3.5的英語實力。課程的主題能吸引青少年時期的發展認同。在選擇正確答案和表達自我時，學生會接觸到更複雜的語言結構，並變得更加熟習英語。 向學生講授英語語法，重點是形式、意義以及使用語法時態的原因。該課程的特色包括：

Preliminary English Course

The Preliminary English Course is designed for intermediate learners of English with topics of greater complexity that further establish and socialize students as teenagers seeking greater independence. The course topics also look to build students’ confidence in their personal identities. Upon successful completion students gain a B1 of English on the CEFR bandwidth and equals to a 4.0 to a 5.0 on IELTS. Language embedded in the course builds on existing knowledge and simultaneously English grammar continues to focus upon form, but also develops student knowledge of grammar having an ever greater number of meanings and uses. Features of the Preliminary English course include the following:

-          Variety of reading skills such as gapped text, true or false and multiple matching.

-          Extensive exercises in paraphrasing and vocabulary specifically related to unit topics.

-          Development of listening discrimination and recognition of roles in listening patterns.

-          Acceleration of content in spoken and written skills for argumentative purposes, giving opinions and explanations.

-          Spoken English focuses on detailed conversation in depth.

-          Writing skills with real world applications, emails, formal letters, articles, giving advice, reviews, reports and essays.

劍橋中級英語課程

The First English Course is advanced in nature for learners who have greater mastery of their skills in English. The topics and outlook of the course are global in perspective and caters to learners who identify more as young adults transitioning to full independence. The First English Course places greater emphasis on academic skills that will prepare students for institutions of higher learning. Certification in First awards the recipient with a B2 of English on the CEFR bandwidth scale and an IELTS equivalency of 5.5 to 6.5. English grammar is further developed for students to gain greater abilities in conveying meaning to their thoughts in spoken and written tasks. Features of the First English Course include the following:

-          Variety of reading tasks which require students to make inferences and speculate upon meaning.

-          Further development of vocabulary for specific purposes, categories and acceleration of paraphrasing.

-          Listening discrimination skills are explored in greater depth and the distinguishing of concepts.

-          Spoken skills reflect collaboration and cooperative skills and register closer in nature to native speaker habits.

-          First contains both situational and continuous writing tasks with real world applications especially articles, reports and essays preparing students for academic writing.

劍橋中高級英語課程

對於精通英語技能的學習者而言，劍橋中高級英語課程本質上更加進階。該課程的主題和視野具有全球性，適合於將自己視為完全獨立個體的青年。中高級英語課程更加強調學術技能，使學生為進入高等院校做好準備。「中高級認證」的通過者將授予CEFR英語B2評級和等同於5.5至6.5的雅思成績。英語語法得到進一步發展，目的是使學生在口頭和書面任務中表達思想的能力得到增強。劍橋中高級英語課程的特色包括：
