World History Course and Learning Objectives

Suggested Grade Level: 10-11

“History teaches us about human nature and our future best choices by teaching us about possibilities rather than regularities.” – Michael Scriven.

The course is to examine events of the past and illuminate recurrent human patterns, what can we learn from human history that will help us understand and manage current world events and our personal affairs in the future. Without any knowledge of history, are we likely to manage worse? The course attempts to identify and interpret events that we can say have similarity, examine continuity and change and question cause and effect.
